Out-of-balance machine components are a principal cause of machinery vibration, vibration that means increased maintenance and reduced machine life.

The condition often is caused by less-than-perfect manufacturing, and it is routine for rotating equipment, reciprocating machines and vehicles. Mass balancing may be necessary if an operation or product requires quiet operation, high speeds, long bearing life, operator comfort, controls free of malfunctioning or a quality feel.

Imbalance can be caused by a number of factors, including:

  • Improper manufacture,
  • An uneven build up of debris on the rotors/vanes/blades,
  • Or the addition of shaft fittings without an appropriate counter balancing procedure.
  • With pumps, uneven wear on impellers is indicated as imbalance.
  • Damaged – broken / missing parts
  • Repair

Floor Measurement

Using these vibration sensors and our analysis equipment, we measure the frequencies and amplitudes of the floor vibrations at the site where the equipment will be installed. This data is then compared with the equipment manufacturer’s specification for the level of vibration that is allowable for that machine.

On-Site Floor Measurement:

To confirm that the present level of vibration will not disturb the operation of sensitive equipment. Or, maybe the vibration is so noticeable that it is causing damage or annoying those who work in the area.

Vibration Analysis can detect machinery faults at a very early stage allowing sufficient time to organise rectification, at a convenient time, before complete failure.

Analysis process can detect faults such as imbalance, misalignment, looseness, bearing defects, rub, bent/cracked shafts, gear mesh faults, vane/blade pass faults, cavitation, motor electrical faults, bad belts, eccentricity, flow related resonance, oil whirl, lack of lubrication and resonance.

Vibration Analysis can also be utilised to perform mechanical acceptance tests on new and refurbished equipment.

Operation Deflection Shape

Operational Deflection Shapes (or ODS) analysis gives additional information on vibration problems that individual measurements cannot achieved. It is a combination of vibration measurement and software processing.

An operational deflection shape enables the visualisation (in animation) of vibrations pattern of a certain machine in both the amplitude and phase of vibration measurements are animated.
